I figure to ask here. Is there any value in an M1 or should I just donate it?

You can sell it with a native lens for $200 usually.

Personally, I like having a really compact quiet option with a big sensor for it's overall size, so I keep mine. Not worth selling to me, because it fills a little niche spot in my kit and does ISO that a cell or other compact really can't quite reach yet, quality wise.

Very best,

If you are going to donate it, I'll give you some cash. I like my M1, and wouldn't mind a spare to get dirty in the garage documenting my build.

FWIW - I paid $250 for my brand new M1 and 22 pancake this winter.

In the end is a camera that can be used for any circumstance without worried of losing a pile of cash if damaged or stolen, that's why I'll keep it even its price goes to nothing

Agreed! When I got my M soaked and it was freaking out I wasn't freaking out because I knew if I had to I could buy another one for dirt cheap.

Here's some from the past couple weeks.

Just a 6" SCT telescope on a tracking mount with an adapted 7D tethered to a laptop running BackyardEOS, used for lunar surface, solar & planetary imaging.

I was going to use the EOS-M, but the M series doesn't support tethering. Crushed my soul.

Very best,

Yes, I was also disappointed that the M doesn't support tethering.

I was about to sell my M and get the M3, until I saw the whole M series doesn't support tethering. So even the M3 doesn't. :(

But as it is, I still really enjoy the little camera when I don't want to take a big camera.

Very best,

Kiron 35-135mm f/3.5-4.5 Macro lens with a 2x Teleconverter
Second one is a crop - should probably do something about the upper left corner of that one.

Any input on the colors (with regards to my signature)?

Cameras: EOS M & M3 --- Lenses: 22mm EF-M, 18-55mm EF-M, FD 50mm f/1.4, EF-S 55-250mm IS II, Sigma 600mm f/8
Disclaimer:The fact that I'm slightly color blind with a crappy monitor and have little or no clue about PP doesn't prevent me from enjoying holding a camera - it just makes it harder to make my photos look normal to you...

Very best,

IIRC the mark III has wifi, which lets you tether via a phone?

Thats how I use my sony A7, and I highly prefer it over laptop. You can also use phone based apps on a computer via software like BlueStacks, that way you can tether it to a laptop if it's a "phone only" type of deal.

Yea, the M3 has wifi, but for my needs that's not enough really. I really wanted to tether an M series for astro work adapted to a telescope on my tracker. I record video a lot, the live view dumps straight to an uncompressed AVI for processing. Doing it in camera is compressed.
