I still have a Canon EOS M with the 22mm and 18-55 lenses. Are these sought after anymore? I haven't been with Canon in a few years, and I see they've moved up the EOS M line. Wondering what to do with this camera collecting dust lol.

Depends on price. I haven't seen any M's with kit go for more than $200 or so. For a long time there, M + 22 was a $180~200 deal and everyone loaded up. Now, especially with the M3 and others available, I don't see the M1 move very fast. I still use mine, even though I'd probably sell it at this point, but I like the wee camera and the 22 is a great lens. If you price your kit right, it will sell. Just depends on how much you're willing to take for it. For $150 it would sell as a kit. For $200 it may sell, but may sit a while too. Any higher and it probably won't sell. Just my thoughts.

Very best,

Just curious if anyone is REALLY excited for the M5? Personally, since it's being released in the winter and I don't shoot much in the winter my excitement level is kind of low.

Not excited since I have an M3. Not enough of an upgrade for me to want to invest into that body.

If I had the original M then maybe.

Not at all really. Mirrorless isn't that exciting to begin with. Canon is only trying to barely catch up to the other major players in mirrorless, and frankly, doesn't have the mirrorless lens line up to even enter the game. For now, it's a very undersupported niche of Canon and they're not dumping in their resources to flesh it out either. Just creep-releasing a mirrorless body, but they're not really releasing more lenses other than slow general zooms, none of which are exceptional so far.

If I wanted to get excited for a mirrorless it would be a Fuji, or a Sony A7S series. But mostly Fuji.

I like my EOS-M. Neat little camera. I almost got excited a while back that my EOS-M would be revitalized until I found it they crippled it in terms of tethering. I cannot attach it and image with it over USB. Why canon took this out, no idea. But that's just annoying. It would have been an awesome little astrophotography camera without a camera, light weight, small, good ISO, good resolution. But no tethering. Bummer. Still I like my EOS-M as a play camera, a do-all camera. The 22 STM lives on it.

I doubt a bigger M5 will even make waves for me. But I'm willing to watch and find out. But Canon really has to get a glass line up to match if they want Mirrorless to be anything other than an unsupported side line to their system.

Very best,

Went out looking for some falls colors locally today. Found this at a local cemetery.

This isn't really photo-sharing, so let me apologize for going OT...

- Considering the price of the M5 i just took a smaller-ish leap and bought the M3 (Amazon Cyber Monday Deal) - hope I won't have any regrets over that one (apart for explaining to wifey why I change my camera after only 2 years).

Keeping the 22mm and the EF/EF-S adapter for the M3 but will bundle 18-55, batteries, flash and chargers (just bought an usb-charger for using with my powerbank)
- Don't know how much I'll get out of the M after 2 years, but I still figure I can sell it for something to cover part of the upgrade.

Cameras: EOS M & M3 --- Lenses: 22mm EF-M, 18-55mm EF-M, FD 50mm f/1.4, EF-S 55-250mm IS II, Sigma 600mm f/8
Disclaimer:The fact that I'm slightly color blind with a crappy monitor and have little or no clue about PP doesn't prevent me from enjoying holding a camera - it just makes it harder to make my photos look normal to you...

I've been enjoying my M, and got a really good deal on an M3 on black friday through Canon's refurb site.

These might be some of the last pictures I post with the M.
