I wouldn't be surprised if an EOS-M 2 is released sometime in the fall

The rumor I heard was "later this year", but who knows... I'm happy with this one.

Anyone think both native lenses currently available are really good values at $250 each? The reviews on them all indicate both are very good optically

Would love to see some "L" caliber glass for the ef-m mount....be it from Canon or third party!

Likewise. It serves my needs perfectly as a compact/companion camera, and it finally broke the price point where its worth it for me. If I need something more robust, I'll reach for my DSLR.

I've had my eye on the Nex for a while, but they're too expensive for what they are (at least for my needs)

Samyang's new 16mm f2 comes with an M mount. Looks like a decent lens, but it's quite a bit pricier than the camera and 22mm. And manual focus only. Although since you're always in Live View mode with the M, it's not that big of a deal to zoom the view screen and nail focus.

Hey, I had a thought (but probably not an original one.

Is there any way to attach a flip-up screen protector like the Nikons come with? It would serve to protect the screen, of course, but would also eliminate the problem people have with the screen always being active and accidentally changing settings/snapping shots unexpectedly.

Also, is it possible to just turn the screen off altogether and operate through the buttons like the other Canons?

I am a simple shooter. I always use center-point focus, auto white balance, and most of the time use auto ISO as well, so I'm not sure I'd need the touch screen on a day-to-day basis unless I'm doing macro, making a movie, etc.

Thank you. bw!

No. There is no (E)VF, it is all LCD-based. You wouldn't know what you're shooting at, nor what the exposure is/would be, etc.

I don't find the screen to be that sensitive. Once or twice the focus point has moved from the center, probably due to inadvertent contact, but pretty much the settings stay put.

I guess I meant is it possible to turn off the touch features, not the screen itself. Sorry for the poor wording.

OK, not really a photo from the M.
The M is like a spiritual successor to the QL.

Not much of a fancy shot, but taken with my M with the EF Adapter and a 300mm f/2.8 lens...

nope. you HAVE to use the screen for some settings.

Although many settings can be accessed using the Q button and the wheel. The screen is faster, though.

B&H is pretty much giving these away at this point. 299.99 for the 22mm kit and 349.99 for the 18-55mm
