Took it to the waterpark yesterday... Nice dead day there due to the cold, so was great for picture taking. At waterparks, I always feel a bit awkward with a gripped 5D3 and 70-200 II... So this was nice and "stealthy". Took along the 22mm only with me.

If taking a bag why not 5dmk3? I used to take my 1dmk2 for walk abouts all the time.:)

At the moment thats what i do, and have done for the past 6-7 years with my DSLR's. It goes everywhere with me, my day bag is my camera bag

bobbyz wrote in post #16152786 (external link)
You take S110 coz they don't allow dSLRs in those venues. So similar thing with us folks. You go dinner with friends, I am not going to carry my 5dmk3, 35L. M will do. Want to shoot kids video it is there. And much better than iPhone.

Not quite. I take the S110 to MY gigs, the ones i play. We do some nice venues (weddings, parties etc) so its nice to have a camera with me, but my 5DMKIII cant fit in my suite bag. My 60D can though, and with the 40mm on. That was the reason i got that lens, but a lot of the time we dont get the chance to take many shots, so the S110 is more practical considering what else i take (and i dont drive).
for parties etc id rather have the camera in my jacket pocket than to have a bag.

bobbyz wrote in post #16152786 (external link)
Nice shots BTW. Wish there were some indoor shots but that is another topic.

Thanks. This was the first big gig ive been to in ages, i dont normally go to them. The S110, coupled with the crop factor has more reach than the M with 18-55, assuming i could get away with that, so again, the M would get left at home.

Im happy to shoot a few indoor shots with the S110 for you, ill sort it out over the weekend and let you know.

so, the bottom line is the 5DMKIII goes almost everywhere that i can, or want to take a bag, and if it doesn't then im probably going to need a pocket camera. That leaves the M in the middle and staying at home most of the time, and its that "most of the time" i cant justify having money tied up in
Im off to a champagne reception tomorrow, ill be taking the 5D and 50mm f/1.4. Its straight from work so ill have to have a bag with me anyway.

Of course this is just me, im just trying to explain why its going back.

Understand. I bought mainly for kids videos and surprised at the quality from such a small cam. Bought it for the wife but I am using it now.:)

Yeah, the video is really good, ill miss that.
If my missus was clever enough to use it id keep it for her, but she has a Ixus 125 that she struggles with so there is no chance she could figure out the M lol

I had the opposite experience with my girlfriend... the M is the only camera I have that she asks me to shoot with. Once I showed her the green box mode and touch to capture, she was set ;)

This would have been a great shot to use the 'miniature effect' creative filter.

Glad to see a lot of EOS-M love in here, especially with the 22mm. I keep wanting to buy one, but then I remember I already have an Olympus E-PL5 with 20mm f/1.7 pancake. Would love to see a head to head between those two, but it's an unusual combo to own both.
That said, if they had sold the kit here for $299, I would have definitely picked one up.

Here's a test with the EOS-M vs a OM-D and the 20mm 1.7.

scroll down to about half the page down.

Still not happy with the AF even with the firmware update, the Nikon and Sony ones are way way better. I've tested them and I'm a canon fanboy so I wouldn't talk crap on It just because.

Unless I'm missing something; that's only a bit about the focus speed, right? I'll look out for some side by side shots. Just curious about that, I'm still happy with the E-PL5 and 20mm.

Love the 22mm lens, I wish I could buy one for my 60D, too.
