Alright I helped a buddy out and took some candid photos for him at his wedding. Now normally I resize and sharpen to post online but I'll be giving him a disc with the photos on it.

Is the same attention required to sharpen the full resolution photos? Or will they look fine not sharpened once they print? I really don't print much either so I'm really a rookie in this department.

Note: I'm not sure if giving photos on discs is a hot topic on here, but If it is I don't want to get into that part.

I sharpen my photos for inclusion on a DVD and that's it. I don't sharpen differently for use when printed unless I'm putting them in an album and they need a little more 'pop'.

Whether you do it or he does it, any image being printed will need significant sharpening to produce a decent printed result.

I sharpen all hi-res images when creating a portfolio just to make them look at their best ..... I then sharpen again when/if I send any for printing as the printing process will always soften the image.

Of course, if he/she prints via some printers then they will auto-enhance the image submitted anyway so that may negate the need to sharpen before submitting so really, you can have no idea what to do unless you know exactly what the recipient of the DVD is going to do !

Thanks for the replies. I'm assuming they will send them to costco or a place like that to have their prints made. I'm just not sure if I can bare going through and sharpening 200 photos to taste.

I don't sharpen for the CD, other than what ACR does by default.

I don't ususally sharpen photographs if for delivery or on web. I like softer images.

Since having my 5D, I don't feel the need to sharpen anymore.
That said, I always had to sharpen with the 50D.

Used to sharpen a lot but hardly ever do nowadays. Was looking at some of my wedding photos from 07 and many were on the soft side even after sharpening. Four factors why I don't sharpen anymore; I think cameras are better now, I own better lenses, I'm a better photographer and software by default may do it as well.

You know with my 6d I'm starting to feel that way.

You could just create a High Pass sharpen action and run that for all the images
