First shot with soft box - 11 month old son

This is my very first shot with my new 60cm x 60cm soft box. I used the sun as a back light with the 580EX II high camera left. The subject is my 11 month old son, Xavier. All recommendations on lighting and or post processing (I haven't done any) are very welcome.

Would defiantly have benefited from a Reflector of some sort to fill in the shadows on the righthand side!

I'm not seeing the light getting into his eyes. It's like his brows are throwing his eyes in shadow or something? Something isn't right with your softbox placement, seems to me. It's either too high or too far away or the angle isn't right. I can normally tell, but not in this photo. Completely adorable baby though, can't wait to see more of him!

Tanks so much for the advice Sue, you're right, it was too high, I originally set it up to take test shots of an adult and he just jumped in the frame, it was too good an opportunity to let go. I have a lot to learn in terms of lighting so I'm really appreciating any advice I can get.

Nice capture but if you were taken the pix at the boy's level, it would be a lot better.
