Sure, sure...they're just tools. However, I think some of us like our cameras more than just hammers and drills...I, for example, always sleep next to my camera in hostels (for fear of having it stolen)...well...apparently I also cuddle the bloody thing.

While on vacation in Europe, I fell asleep on a pier, waiting for a ferry on Mljet Island in Croatia...with my camera on my stomach and my hands around it. My friends thought it would be the perfect time to see how many orange peels they could put on me...I woke up covered in about a dozen pieces of it haha.

Anyone else have any stories of treating your camera perhaps a little too much like a pet...or a child? :D

Orange peels? It's a good thing they didn't use something that would attract seagulls?

..well...apparently I also cuddle the bloody thing.

I've had my suspicions! :D

If you asked me where my camera was right now, I wouldn't have a clue. It's in the house somewhere but I would have to go and look for it to determine exactly where in the house.

Robber: I just broke into your house and am taking all your stuff.
You: Stop or I'll shoot, producing a weapon from under the pillow
Robber: What, you are going to take pictures of me at 12 fps?
You: Damn it, wrong pillow!

:D

Mine's in the house ... Somewhere, might be in the breakfast room, the basement or my closet. My gear is spread out everywhere, finding what I need is about as tedious as processing sometimes. My G11 is always on me though

Out of curiosity, why would you sleep with it like that in the open. You don't feel your advertising you have a valuable item in the open?

That is an inappropriate question. She always reads this forum with me and you have made her very upset.

I have this S95 (Betty) and 40D (Sue) who I love to pieces, but they can barely tolerate being near one another. And they both claim that I'm just using them.

Then there's this FF (full-figured) 5DIII that I've been eye-balling. When I bring her home, the pixels are gonna hit the fan.

Haha...love the replies so far guys...keep'em coming. I'm actually pretty organized with my gear at home (which is insane, 'cuz I'm not a very organized person)...have specific cabinets where I keep my gear. Always inside to prevent dust build up, with tons of silica packs that I change frequently to suck up the moisture.

I don't have it out in the open. I usually have it in my backpack next to me or at least wrapped up in a hoodie next to me, so it just looks like I have a cheap sweatshirt next to me. (Of course always on the inside, between me and the wall). Given the choice, I also always pick the top bunk, so it's harder to see/harder to get at.
