Last time I was at Disney I had my 24-105 and it was generally fine. There were definitely times I wished I had a longer lensbut was glad not to be toting it. If it were during the day I'd say thef4 is wouldn't be too bad to haul around.

What ever you do invest in a good strap likeep the rapid strap. It makes hauling a camera much more comfortable.

Someone just posted refurbished S95 from Canon for $178.

I would still get the S100, just my personal preference though, the CMOS sensor + Digic 5 = better low light performance.

Cameras: 7D2, S100
Lenses: 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM, 18-135 STM, 24-70 f/4L IS USM, 50 f/1.4 USM,70-300L IS USM
Other Stuff: 430 EX II, Luma Labs Loop 3, CamRanger

I would not rent a lens for this type of event; I think that a point and shoot or bridge camera would be a better choice- you're there to have fun.. Not to be lugging around a bunch of gear....

I'd consider the S100 for its low light capabilities ( or anything similar )... If you feel that you would want reach, choose a model that provides you the reach you want- like a bridge camera ( sx-40 ).

IF I did take my gear-- it'd be on days that I needed it and only on those days.. The others I'd take a point and shoot.. If out at night- I'd bring along an external flash..

Oh, I forgot to mention: I had the T2i with the 18-55 and the 55-250 in a small camera bag, and it was a hassel to carry because of the rides.

The S-series will be awesome for you.

Thank you. bw!

Thank you everyone for your input. I talked with my father-in-law last night who has a S95 and he said we could just take it with us for my wife to use during the day. He has captured some amazing images with this camera over the last few trips, so I am thinking I may just leave my big gear at home this trip. I will have limited time each evening to run around with the family so its better to enjoy that time then worry about grabbing a shot.

Theme parks are the one vacation place I'd rather not carry a DSLR, because of the inconvenience of stowing it in a locker every time you want to ride certain rides (unless you have someone to hold it for you). I think the S95 only is a good choice - we only take my wife's S95 every time we go to Disney World.

This is a really personal thing. Some folks set aside one day and 'really' do there picture taking with long lens, tripod, etc.

When I first started out I took a 18-135 to Disney and the lens creep keep hitting people on the lines. After that I just took one prime or my 17-50 that doesn't creep.

If I had more then one full day I would do that, however with Saturday being my only full day in a park and Sunday-Wednesday I wont be joining the girls till close to 6pm :( the wife said she would rather not worry about pictures  which is not the normal response for her. She wants to be able to run me around the park they have been in all day to show me the highlights.

Sounds like a good plan. There are many times that I just take the S100 with me and leave the 60D at home, the S95/100 are fantastic little cameras, honestly some of the images I get from them are on par with my SLR for casual use, and the portability can't be beat.

My Father in law as made a 20x30 from a S95 image and it looks amazing so I know its just as good maybe better then my T3 lol. And at the best I get a great shot we want to hang at home which would never be anyhing more then 20x30 so a toss in the pocket camera it is :D

^this
im going to disney world in Feb as well and my plan is to use my fiance's panasonic ts3 to take pictures during the day, that way I get to enjoy the rides.
I'll bring my DSLR too but wont use it until afternoon/evening when all we will be doing is walking/eating and fireworks

I went to DW this past Sept. I carried my 15-85, 100L, and 430exii. I ended up with bad back pain. I was at the parks the whole day though.

Long lenses are only useful in Animal Kingdom and on live shows like Beauty and the Beast (only if its a fast 2.8 lens). Given than AK closes at 5 (and you would want to be there at opening time), Id leave a long lens behind.

My suggestion is get something like the 18-55 F/2.8. Its wide enough for all scenery, and fast enough for night shots, which is when you will be in.

Also carry a flash. Very useful.
