Hi,

I have my lightroom setup on my home server. Most of the time, I can easily do remote desktop connection (RDP) from any of my laptops and use Lightroom. It works OK over WAN connection and work great when I use it over local network.

The only problem I come across is when I am trying to edit an image. When I try to use an adjustment brush it works fine but when I try to reduce the brush size, it disappears. This happens when brush size is a bit small than 1CM (visible size on screen). Brush is still working but I cannot see the circular outline of the mouse pointer. If I increase the brush size, it appears again.

I would love to be able to resolve this issue so that I never have to work directly on the server.

(PS: I have seen the same issue when using Photoshop as well.)

Thanks.

I never use LR over RDP so this may not answer your question but worth mentioning. Are you connecting at the highest resolution and highest color quality? Have you also checked other RDP settings prior to connecting?

Hi,

Yes I am using it in full screen LAN mode which gives me the highest resolution my local laptop has along with 32bit colours.

Thanks

I can't say, but are you seeing this behavior on multiple remote computers?

You might get more helpful responses on one of the dedicated Lightroom forums. The Adobe Lightroom Community forum has a lot of expertise on board, including some of the developers. The LightroomQueen site also hosts a helpful forum.

Yep, same behavior on multiple laptops. Different resolutions as well.

I guess I will look around a bit more and see if someone has a solution for it.

Thanks.

What screensize uses your server? More then the laptop I presume?
Try setting the display resolution on the server to match that of the laptop maybe?

I frequently use LR over RDP and see the same issue. I have not been able to resolve it.

Sometimes the entire cursor disappears but if I make the brush smaller it reappears.

I found an odd thing about this issue. When changing brush sizes, I can see the pointer when it is at or below size 7 and also when it is above size 22. In all sizes between 7 and 22 I cannot see the mouse pointer.

On the server - Try going into video adapter properties and lower "hardware acceleration" settings.

Hi Rene,

When you do RDP in full screen mode, it matches the session to your local screen resolution. So in this case, I have the same resolution for both server and my local laptop.

Thanks.

I thought I was special and only I had this issue. Thank God I am not the crazy one (at least in this case). :-)

Hi Krill,

Are you suggesting making this change directly on the server or via remote desktop? I checked and via remote desktop this setting is not available.

Thanks.

Should be available thru RDP - it may in a different place in your version of windows - but the theory here is some graphics car hardware acceleration interferes with RDP

Nope, I do not have the hardware option via RDP at all. I tried looking around but couldn't find it anywhere else wither.

My client is Win 7 and my server is running MS Server 2008 R2.
