Have you tried updating your server 2008 video driver to the latest version?

RDP doesn't tend to handle graphics very well; it's one of the reasons that gaming over RDP connections isn't really done. Getting things like that to happen over a remote connection was something that OnLive struggled with and seems to have come up with reasonable answers for, but that's a pretty new development.

You get 9 points for this suggestion. :-) Mainly because I didn't think of this even though I have been in IT for close to 2 decades.:)

You lost one point because even after updating the video driver, it didn't work. :o

I know but I can't think of any other solution to using Lightroom. I tried exporting some images as a catelogue to work on my laptop and when I imported them back, I seemed to have a lot of duplicates. This is why I like to use the same copy of the lightroom whereever I am by using RDP. I have not found a different remote solution that even comes close to this.

Is this just your solution for being able to use LR and get to your photos anywhere? If so, would a portable HD work as a solution for you instead? That's the method I've been using for around 3 years now, and it's been good so far.

I have my images sitting on a large array of disks with daily automatic backups to multiple NAS devices. Unfortunately, keeping them on a single portable device is not an option because I could be using any one of the many laptops available locally as well as remotely. Also, LR 4 isn't really known for blistring speed so I will lose performance as well by sticking them onto a portable drive.

Any other ideas I could use?

Thanks.

OK, I found a workaround to this issue. If I turn on Mouse Pointer locator in the control panel/Mouse settings, I can hit the Control button and find the pointer. It is no longer a circular shape for a brush but at least I can see where I am going to be clicking.
