Just curious if any other members also had the hobby of home theater. If so posting some pics would be great. Heres some of mine.

mmm...I just like my sony big screens (36,51, and 57"; all HD). I have a set of those theater chairs (antique ones) down in the basement, but I hate sitting in that kind of chair. I like my big a** recliner! :-D However, my sound system isn't really anything to speak of compared to the big boys. Just a Harmon Kardon 7.1, bose 301's in the front, 201's in the back, polk audio front and rear centers, and a velodyne 300W sub. Oh, and my DVD player is a mere single disc. It's the one Tony Soprano had on the Stugots. ;-)a

Quite a lovely looking setup you've got there, though.

I am into Home Theater. I used to work in Home and Car Audio. My wife's boss is building a new house with a 36' X 16' HT in the basement that I get to help plan and build. Can't wait for that to get started. Nice setup by the way.

I will take a picture and post later. I also have a 57 inch SONY in my basement. When we finished the basement we bought the TV first because we also hired a carpenter to put in oak cabinets around it. I have 5 BOSE speakers around the room and a really fantastic bass one in the cabinet. It's all HD. We bought what is called an "Entertainment" leather sofa that is shaped like a semi-circle with 2 large footrest things. It can fit 5 comfortable, 6 if we must. But I have to say, Mike, yours is impressive.

When I was getting ready to buy the audio, my wife accused me of being obsessed with it, but now she enjoys it as much as the rest of us. No big deal on the monitor, just a 27 inch Magnavox. The audio (my 'obsession') is an Onkyo TX-DS787 6.1 receiver with 6 Definitive Technology Pro Monitor 100's and a ProSub 100TL.

Its in my basement and I couldn't get any bass radiation from the floor, so I put the subwoofer right behind my LazyBoy. It gives a pretty good effect, and I don't have to turn it up too much if I want to watch something after everyone else has gone to bed.

Have Fun,

If you want to get tactile sensation, install Aura bass shakers to the under side of your funiture. The transmit the feel of the action to the furniture. I installed four shakers, one under the love seat and three under the full sofa. What a rush during action movies!!

Thanks , Mike :),

I'll bet! I saw the shakers when I was putting things together, but it was enough of a hassle with the mgmt to get what I would call a 'basic' audio system, that shakers would have been over the edge (for me).The Onkyo has one feature I was determined to get - a phono input so I could continue to listen to vinyl when I wanted to. It seems that was hard to come by in a Home Theater receiver a couple of years ago. Anybody know how available they are now?Have Fun,

You can buy an external pre-amp for the phono to go into a standard audio input.

I heard all of that when I was putting it together, but sometimes I want to have the built-in setup. When I did my first component system in 1967 I was more towards the leading edge, but now I just want to be able to occasionally listen to those vinyl LPs that I haven't already duplicated on CD. But that's just me. ;)

Have Fun,

I'm not as into home movie theatre's as I used to be, and since I moved to the states I went back to zero as far as equipment was concerned, but with the computer in combination with my wife's projector (which she uses in work) we can get a nice big 5ft image on the wall. perfect. :)

Wowsers, that looks fantastic! Looks like you've got a few dollars in chairs alone there!

Do any of you home theatre guys also have a bit of an inkling for home automation? They seem to blend together thesedays.

I've been looking for a way to hook up my touchscreen monitors to my home entertainment stuff. I don't have the foggiest how to do it, though. I already have the color Sony Commander, but I'd like that nice big screen right there. Anyone know how to do that?

Trippinbillies40, did you do that yourself or did you have it done? (just guessing it was the latter) What's the touchscreen hooked up to? I mean I know it controls everything, but yeah.
