May help the surf shooters if they know what lens you were using

Looks to me like it was a very overcast day. No sun, no contrast. It's hard to separate the sky from the surf when they are the same color. Wait for the sun and shot when it's behind you or slightly past overhead for good water color flow.

IMHO - Using CS2 and the threshold view as a guide (sample the light & dark points), then adjuste the light & dark points within the curves and I think you'll be able to restore alot of the color.

Overexpose another stop, the image is too flat. You can salvage a lot of those shots in CS though.

I know how you feel. I still have the same problem on occasion. What are you metering for when you take surf shots? When I used to shoot creative modes I'd get flat surf shots.

Photoshop can help a lot... if the sun was out it would have really helped you. too much sun and you will need a CP filter.

The picture you have taken stores data that can be read by some picture editors, this is some of the info from PhotoShop CS.
