Photographers make the worst photographers!

I Buy and Sell here a lot along with FM. It never ceases to amaze me how little attempt people make to photograph their gear for sale! Aren't you supposed to be photographers?

And when you do make a half-a$$ attempt, you can barely make out what it is through the snowstorm of grain and blur. Is that a... skunk?! No wait... I think it's a... camera... yea, a camera with a big white lens on it... yea...

My favorite comment: "Sorry for the bad pics, I have no other camera than the one I'm selling." When in fact, I could have done better with my cell phone through saran wrap in the shower with soap in my eyes!

It's time someone calls all of you on it! So I am! Show some pride in your craft, ya damn kids! You might even sell sumpthin...

Bottom line, they can sell their stuff in there at good prices... And so what is the big deal...

The poor picture quality I can usually deal with, its the attitude some of the sellers have when posting an item. The "I am not posting photo's because I am above doing so and you should be honored that I would even think about doing business with you and here are my terms." The terms are usually followed with paypal gift or some other obscure method which suits them completely. What I find funny is the posters doing so are usually individuals that have thousands of posts here.

Before anyone takes offense about my above posting, I know as a seller that it is their right to post whatever terms for the sale they want. It is also my right to get a good chuckle and move right on past it to the next. If a store had that "you're lucky to be doing business with me attitude", I don't think that they would be open long.

If you look at many posts without pics you'll see a majority of the next replies are "got pics?"

I agree that some people take bad product pictures but in general I don't think it hinders the sale as people really are interested in the price more than the quality of the product pictures. IMO if someone takes good product pictures it tells me they may care a little bit more and the transaction has a better chance of going smoother but that's just my opinion.

It's a bad attitude that will make me move on. And while you may not be able to interpret tone or inflection in text...I think that "paypal gift or you eat fees" is rude. Was actually interested until I read that.

Now we need a "Show us your photogear for sale" thread, which this may evolve into

The better the photos, the faster it sells and for more money. It's always worth the effort. I find that buyers will pay more when they know exactly what they're getting and less when they have to guess.
