Thanks, yes, I had already seen that and would never have thought to use it myself. It's a great idea with amazing results.

It's a fantastic light. You will love it. Are you keeping your B1? Best of luck to you but I know you don't need it!

Is it safe you are currently using one, Annie? I'll probably sell one of my B1's (i have 3), to recoup some of the funding for the B10... And thx for the well wishes!!!

:)

Yes, Butch, I was on the pre-order list. I sold my B2 to partially fund it. It's so small for about 0.5 stop (as measured by others - cx YouTube) less than the B1. I put mine in the camera bag and my assistant loves it as she can hold it up on a monopod for ages and her arms don't ache! The modelling light can be used in certain circumstances as a constant light source. But of course you know all this! It works great with the OCF modifiers but I don't feel comfortable using the RFI boxes as the balance is off. The smooth knob need a re-design too in my opinion.

Anyway, can't wait to see some of your output.

So I did an impromptu photo-sesh to test out the B10 yesterday... The wifey was generous enough to participate... Bless her soul... 1Dx + 50L + Lee 105mm CPL... ISO 100, f/1.2 @ 1/2500sec... Profoto B10 + Profoto 24" Deep Octa... Profoto Air Remote TTL-C, as the trigger... Profoto B10 is high-right of wifey-model... Hehehe... Here's the result...

For the first real-world test, YES... It did pretty well, considering the size, weight, and power it could produce... We did a follow-up shoot at a resort called Pelican Hill, in Newport Beach... I'll post that up soon... Same strobe setup, but different lens (35L)...

:)

Shameless plug, but if anyone wants to buy a Profoto B1 and Profoto Air Remote TTL (Canon), I have one on sale in the Marketplace... I have 3, but selling one since I picked up the B10... Anyhoo... Just an FYI if you know anyone who wants to pick up a B1...

:)

edit: Ironically, I used the B10 + Profoto 2' Deep Octa to shoot the product shot of the B1... Lol...

Annie, you eye is in fine kilter. I especially like your nearly high-key portrait: am I really counting four light sources in a line?

Haha, I presume the 'kilter' is a pun. The bride shot is in an old kirk where there are 4 windows behind me causing the catch-lights in her eyes. I had 2 Profotos (B1 and B1X) set up camera left bouncing off a white wall to light the far corner (behind the bride) and for fill.

Heh, heh, I stand accused. As for eye rendering, I never accepted the One Catchlight school of thought, and your portrait is a perfect counterexample. I'm exploring the idea in studio but it's hard because one needs multiple lights in panoramic deployment.
