Mar 15, 2014 14:17 | #95 So I did some more experimenting yesterday. Obviously, I was incorrect, as usual, and Profoto is right, surprise, surprise. My first very unscientific test was totally flawed. I now tried it with the 1Dx alone, after first putting the light on, and it did overexpose. Seems like a simple fix for them. That and HSS and I'll be set. Oh, and maybe a model or two. Okay, I'll settle for one.

LOL, thanks. I've started to always do a set-up shot for my own reference, otherwise I'd forget how I lit certain images Zerimar wrote in post #16765181 So many dog photos lately haha LOL, I can keep spamming the thread with food images Carmen

Mar 21, 2014 05:40 | #104 So I'm thinking of getting a Profoto umbrella. Of all the softboxes and currently the Mola Setti I've owned, I've never had an umbrella. I just watched a webinar with Mark Wallace where he shot a small impromptu group with one and the results were great. And I shoot my extended family from time to time.

They all seem to be the same quality, and I think they would all be damaged equally by outside wind conditions. Or to put it another way, no one brand appears to be super strong or sturdy. My favorite is the silver Elinchrom, for the textured surface. The Profotos seem to be made from a heavy white vinyl, which makes the umbrella heavy. —Eric
