FWIW...#1: I think the mood is there, but I feel the subject is still slightly underexposed. #2:..It's an awkward pose and I think the light is too harsh and maybe positioned too far to the right of the model. The pose and the light just don't work well together in my opinion.

Canon 5D MkII gripped, Canon 7D gripped, Canon 40D gripped, Canon XTI (IR) gripped, Canon 17-55 2.8 IS, Canon 60 Macro 2.8, Canon 70-200L 2.8 IS , Canon 24-105 4.0, Tokina 11-16 2.8, Canon 50mm 1.8, Sekonic L-358, Canon Speedlite 580-EX II, (2)430-EX, Pocket Wizards, lots of other stuff that seems to keep growing...

Interesting comments by bbvdm. I agree with his assessment of #2 completely, but completely disagree on his assessment of #1, and I'm a finicky underexposure freak. I really think #1 has a very sultry feel to it and the side lighting works really well. Her right foot and shoe is exposed perfectly relative to the face and composition.

Having some light into her right eye would have been icing on the cake.

Here's with a brightness adjustment, it looks okay, but I like the original better, the brighter image makes it fall into the category of the second image lighting wise, a little to hot. Different strokes I guess.
