So you want a lens that does everything and costs nothing? A common desire to date unsatisfied.

If the lens was Canon L I would go for it. A third party lens I would expect around $500. I guess I want it all for a little. Or I want the best.
Maybe I am justifying a 6D

Based on what? The Sigma 12-24 is unique. There is no other 12mm rectilinear lens for FF SLR on the market.

I think it sounds like you need to go one way or the other - either get something like the 10-22 for your crop camera, or get a FF to go with your 16-35.

Not sure if you are joking or not.

But I never can understand why someone would go for a lens only if it has a L...
If it can take great photos does it matter if there is a L or not

One potential for a crop camera and move to a FF (or use both), but don't have the 16-35L or 15-40L yet. The Sigma 10-20mm for crop and add an off brand 1.4X TC to it for FF.

Take a look - Here

Just bite the bullet and get a "crop only" ultrawide.... Canon 10-22,

Listen to Alan. Buy the best lens for the camera you have right now. You can always sell it for a minimal loss when (if) you transfer to FF.
