Hey POTN admins, I would like to see a user rating system by where you can rate a persons post based (thumbs up) on how usefull the content is. Users would gain points and get a rep for being usefull.
Showing how many posts a member has made just shows how much spare time they have and not that what they say is actuall valuable, I know this would help me when and others when asking the POTM members for advice.

Just an idea

Jason

PS: I have put zero thought into how this would be administered, but I guess thats why im not an admin.

There's a similar topic here; that may offer some insights into whether and when it would be possible.

Visit dpreview if you want this. They have several paid staff and this site propably is all volunteer using a stock forum programming while dpreview writes its own web coding.

While it is correct that the current software is comercially available software I can tell you that Pekka who owns the forum is currently rewriting the forum software completely. The forums on dpreview has never been very good (not talking about how members talk to each other thats a completely different matter). Vbulletin has allways blown away the forum on dpreview so they can have hundreds of paid staff to write code it still sucks ;) just my personal opinion of course.
