I thought I would go down to the botanic gardens this morning for a look around. The ant mimic jumping spiders that mimic rattle ants have what I think are their breeding colours on. Only seem to see the golden hairs on the large ones at this time of year, the males have their huge jaws too.

Wonderful captures again.
Don't know if it's true for all jumpers but the male common jumping spider in the UK (Salticus scenicus) also has large jaws (chelicera) rather then the more normal large palps the other spider males have.

Thanks LordV, Desertraptor, orionmystery, Lester Wareham, chris galeski, alquimista, mandokid1, racketman, Pri and Ishrani. I appreciate the feedback.

Not to sure on the jaw size thing BrianV. You can't find the big jawed versions of these outside the breeding season, well i haven't. I think there is a bit of a mix within jumpers, not every species go for the large jaws but I am no expert.
