Hi Guys/Gals,

I've done lots of searching but can't find exactly what I'm after.

My girlfriend and I are begging to do a little wedding photography and I am now looking in to the winds of flash photography!

We both have 430EX II's but obviously these are on camera and I would like to be able to trigger them off camera perhaps with me assisting by holding one on a monopod...

Can someone please tell me what piece of equipment I need to perhaps clip on to the cameras hotshot to enable the flash wirelessly? I just don't want to g and buy the wrong thing!

Also can whatever this piece of kit is enable two 430EX II's to flash at the same time? I'm guessing I also need some kind of receiver on the bottom of the flash...

Part numbers would be great! Thanks in advance.

Stuart.

I'm not as think as you confused I am..

Personally, I use Phottix Odins and a 24" softbox for getting-ready shots and bride and groom portraits.

The Odins retain ETTL, so we can move quickly. No metering of lights, just adjust FEC.

One person holding the soft box with a monopod, but sans-assistant, a travel stand works good enough.

take a look at these:

Yongnuo YN622 Wireless ETTL Flash Trigger Receiver Transmitter Transceiver for Canon has ETTL for 430EX II

Cactus V5 Wireless Flash Transceiver V5 Duo = manual flash only NO ETTL

Strato II Wireless 5 in 1 Trigger Set for Canon (is Max sync1/200 & must flash be on Strato & on-camera for TTL)

NEVER ANYTHING FROM CowboyStudio

PIXEL TR-332 Flash Wireless Trigger for Canon E-TTL II

Try this Google search

What if I were to have two different flashes? I have the canon but I want to look into getting another significantly cheaper flash. Do I have to have the same brand flashes? Also, any recommendations on stands/umbrellas/and other equipment needed for multiple triggered flashes? Thanks to the OP and everyone else. I too am confused on all this!

you have to have ettl for canon on the flash you buy. YN makes a series of flashes that are ettl compatible.

Thanks for the replies so far, the Phottix looks great however the YN-622 is a hell of a lot cheaper and I already found a deal on eBay (of all places...) for £109.99 which includes 4x transceivers! This will easily cover our setup as it currently is whereas the Phottix has just one, with another one costing roughly £100!

Can anyone give a quick review of the YN-622 from experience? The unit looks fairly cheaply built whereas the Phottix doesn't. Obviously there is a large price difference to suit but looks can always be deceiving...

I have a set of the YN-622c and for the price they are great. I don't have a set of the Phottix to compare them to, but the build quality of the YN-622c is
very good. I don't think you will be disappointed with them at all. Here is a thread that will tell you everything you want to know about them. The short answer is, buy them, you won't be disappointed.

Correct me if I'm wrong but your 60D should have wireless flash built into it that is compatible with 430EX IIs. My 7D did and I think the 60D does as well.

Ditto, the only downside is that you need an unobstructed line of sight from camera to flash, or be in a less than mammoth sized room.

It can also be less than reliable outdoors when it's sunny.

Spot on! I didn't actually realise that

However it would be for weddings so really need to be radio controlled.

Thanks so much for the advice, knew I could trust you guys as usual! The YN-622 look like the winner in terms of price.
