I was fortunate enough to be contacted by Harpercollins publishing as they wanted me to shoot a photo for a book cover. It was the new book just recently released by Ralph Nader called "The Seventeen Solutions".

The person who designed the book cover saw my work on Flickr and emailed me. It's a rather long and interesting story but the end result was my photo being on the cover of a Ralph Nader book.

It is really quite a thrill for me. I just end wanted to share my good fortune with forum members here on POTN.

You can see the book here.

Did you get paid? That's what really matters.

Of course.

Congrats, that's awesome! I'd love to sell a photo one day (even just to a friend, haha), but I need to develop some talent first, haha!!!

That's wonderful! Congratulations, I'd be doing cartwheels if I ever made a book cover. I hope you treated yourself to a nice dinner. Any word on possible future deals?

In the Business of Photography, it is what really matters. Businesses don't sustain themselves on feel good emotions, unfortunately.

That is all that matters if you are doing this for a living which I surmise you are not given the answer. It is always nice to be published but even better (for me at least) to take a nice fat check to the bank. I read through the preview available and it seems like you didn't get a "cover photo by" which is customary in publishing. Perhaps it is not in the preview pages, did you get credit anywhere?

Congrats.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Photo credit is on back of the book.

I do not shoot photographs to earn a living. I enjoy it very much but I have had another career for over 30 years that is not related to photography in any way.

But you posted this in the Business of Photography section. Photo sharing might have been a better place...
