Has anyone successed to make EOS Utility work with a classic 5D ,under Win 7 64 bits (without using a virtual machine to simulate XP) ?

your best bet is to upgrade to win7 pro, if you dont already have it. With pro, it includes XP mode, which is microsofts version of virtual machine, you download the VM, which is around 1.5Gbs. It supports any programs and peripherals that were supported under win xp.

anyway, i use the same setup for my 20D and it works fine.

Similar solution here.

I downloaded Virtualbox (link) (external link) and installed a virtual XP.

Thanks. Indeed, I have the pro edition.
I'm downloading XP mode, since there is no other solution.

Nice to know, I don't think I've tried tethered shooting with my 5DC, since it has a history of problems.

Works fine on the PC I brought 6 months ago, but then I DO run XP Pro on it...

So...does this 'XP mode' make it look and function like XP?

Yes, you'll have a window (that you can put in full screen mode) where XP will run.

So, it's just a mode that lets XP take over control? And, does it, in effect, allow you to use the computer as if it WAS running XP, or do you have to open XP mode every time you start it up?

Does the XP in XP 'mode' have full functionality? Like, can i use it and set my theme etc, like i do now?

Sounds good to me, I HATE newer operating systems...removed them from all our PC's and installed XP...

...and, i'd hate to lose my Black and orange Luna theme...
