I ordered a set of extension tubes and am wondering if I use them with a lens that has image stabilization (or OS, VC etc) will this make a difference? Should I disable the stabilization, or will it help me?

I have a set of ET's and haven't changed my IS on any of my shots. Although new lenses are supposed to have tripod sensing IS, this is only sort-of true. If you half-press the shutter and let the IS settle down it (probably) won't go wonky. But certainly if you just take the shot as IS is starting up or are automatically focus stacking you can get blurred shots. Edward Jenner

A full contact set like Canon or Kenko ones will still operate the IS, however the effectiveness of traditional IS falls off with increasing magnification. Gear List
