It's not required, but folks seem to appreciate it. To be honest, I listed mine because when I first joined this forum, it appeared to be the norm. After a few months of posting however, I quickly learned that people did pay attention to that stuff. For example, readers often visited my online galleries and asked about which equipment I used for certain shots that weren't posted to POTN. Don Martelli

LOL. Well, my mother always told me that if you can't think of something nice to say, don't say anything, so I stayed quiet Just returned after many years hiatus from this forum. I was a bit of a prat before, if I ever offended you, I'm sorry

It can also help the reader assess the relevance of the answer, although this isn't as generally sure. In some support forums I'm part of we insist the users provide full operating environment info in their posts because too many have come back 6 responses into the thread and said "OBTW, this is Word 6 for DOS". The people who don't include all this in their sig usually get 3-4 replies asking about specific details they should have offered up front. It's easier to just put it all in your sig. and be done with it. Jon

Also I like having my camera because I have learned some of my problems are a result of the cameras functions. No one has to ask, it is right there. Sarah www.seibertphotography.com
