Can someone tell me how to check what hyperforcal distance I've previously saved in C1 or C2 mode on a G12. Sorry if this is a really stupid question.

If you've really saved a focus distance, you must have been in Manual focus mode before the save. Change to the C1 or C2 setting, don't refocus, check the distance setting for manual focus.

The above seems too simple so I've probably misunderstood your question or situation.

NO - you are right. The only problem is that although all the settings (MF, aperture, etc) appear on the screen when I switch to my C1 setting, the distance scale doesn't. I'm flummoxed :)

Thanks for that. If only the G12 had the focal length markings on the lens barrel ;)

Press the [0] button (top right above the control dial) repeatedly to cycle through various display/control options.

OK, I'm starting to feel a bit goofy now! Which button do you mean:

Thanks again,
Al

The button above the control dial at roughly the 1 o'clock position. It's on the right hand side and has a white rectangle painted on it with a sort of eyeball inside the rectangle. Looks kind of like [0]

That's the one I thought you meant, but it just gives me metering options, whether I'm in C1, C2 or others.

Doh! You are, of course, correct. Thanks very much for your patience.

BTW I never was a very good student :)

All the best,
Al

PS: Any more tricks to pass on? :)
