I don't know, differential pricing still comes into play. If I were to trade my 7d for a 5dII I would consider a $300 to $400 difference fair. There is a little over $400 difference in Amazon pricing. I may be proven wrong, but I don't see the gap getting narrower.

at the time the 7d was going for $1000 almost everywhere and the 5d mkii was holding up at $1600-$1700.

I'm seeing a flood of 5D mark 2s showing up on Craigslist. The asking price varies from about 1400 to 1900 USD.

Funny to see everyone notice the downward spiral in pricing. I think I will try and hold out until christmas to consider a body upgrade and then see what the prices are like. Just thinking out loud.

Deals are out there if you're patient/lucky. I got my 5D2 with Canon grip and 16G CF for $1550 about 5 months ago. The previous owner had stripped the grip mounting thumbwheel. Cost about $27 for a new baseplate from UScamera.com to fix. Just over 7k on the clicker when I bought it.

There is still a wide range of prices.. the thing is we are seeing what people are asking and that doesn't mean it's actually being sold for that amount. Or the people are just over valuing their 5d2.
I"ve seen them for as high as 2k in the DFW area still, then you scroll down and see 1500. What's funny to me it the person asking 2,000 actually has in his add, "don't tell me it's over priced or you can get it cheaper elsewhere" this is a like new camera

I paid $1800.00 just last month for my 5d2 from best buy then 2 weeks later saw them selling for $1550 on ebay and of course the sold out brand new. There is no way I would pay anyone $1500.00 for a used one, but I don't buy used anyway. Thought about putting my 60D up for sale but I don't really want to give it away. I bought my 60D just last year and man it seems as none of these camera bodies hold value. So now I'm probably stuck with a camera that I barely used and don't need now. :(

I just bought a new 5d2 for $1699. I could not see spending the same or a bit less for a used one. Very happy with decision .

The 7d is three years old now. It will soon be around 7-800 used like the 50d's were for a while. The crop bodies also just don't hold value like the FF bodies. I mean used 7d's are already all over our forum for 895.00 shipped. When it costs roughly 1050.00 for a refurb it only makes sense that a used non-guaranteed 7D should go for a few hundred less than a refurbished model with a 90 day guarantee.

The 5D2 is $520 less than its launch price, the 7D is $250 less than its launch price (using the same online store as a guideline).

For an annualized depreciation in value, they are basically equal. The only reason you think the crop bodies depreciate more is that Canon usually releases more models into the crop space, between the rebels and xxD space, than they do in the FF and APS-H space.

However, in one year, Canon has announced/released 3 new FF offerings, and you are now seeing the same depreciative effect in the FF space as you used to seeing in the APS-C space.

Its an old camera and people want the newest stuff. Let it keep falling. I'll buy one just to use as a walk around camera. I'm tired of carrying giant 1D bodies.

EDIT: If anyone has a high-mileage 5D2 they want to sell feel free to message me. I don't care about what it looks like on the outside. The more beat up, the better.
