I just got one. While the performance is seriously impressive, I can't believe the design and how you can see the circuits and wiring from the back. Looks unfinished. No way for it to pick up dirt easily since it is usually covered by either a lens cap or the body but still, fist time I see this ...

Take off any EFS lens or alot of sigma lenses or tamron and look in the back while zooming in and out and ya you can see the electronics.

None of the EFS lenses I owned had that "special feature" :-). I like the lens a lot, just a little shocked to see it. Hope it isn't just with my lens :-)

Nope, it's normal....allows the ribbon cables to flex around as you tilt or shift.

It's an ugly looking lens, kinda heavy, you can see the internals from the backsides....but yes, the performance is seriously impressive and everything else goes out the window. The more you shoot with it, the better it gets. I love mine.

Aaaah, I know there's some good explanation for that, makes sense.

I think it is beautiful, feels incredibly solid. I read some review that it is build cheap but I think it is the other way around (and I'm usually overly critical of equipment). Will put it to work on Wednesday, shooting a project inside The Wynn Las Vegas.

I couldn't agree more, the build on this thing is amazing.
