MY mom said that Canon xs is giving her a busy every time that she tries to take a picture in any setting the only setting that she can get to work is in A-DEP. I put a external flash on it the other night but used it after that as well and it was slower but it was working, i was just using the built in flash as that was all i decided that i needed to. The flash that i used was the same flash that i use on my t2i all the time. any ideas on how we can fix it or does it need to be sent in.

There was a similar question just a few minutes ago, except that was the AF switch on the lens, I think...

Try this, rotate the mode dial a few times, back and forth through the entire range (that's the dial on the top, righthand shoulder of the camera). I'm hoping there just might be some oxidization or a little grime in the switch mechanism. Most of those are self-cleaning, but only if they are operated occasionally. A camera left in one mode for a long time might see problems like this. Operating the switch a bit might bring it back to life.
