Actually they are Desmodium seeds I believe. She was covered in them.

We call those "beggar lice" in Dixie, I guess because they "beg a ride" to somewhere else. I've heard that name all my life and I've got a lotta miles on me.

Leon,
I too have heard them called Beggar's Lice. In fact when in Montana last month I heard Stickseed being referred as Beggar's Lice as well. They can be annoying picking them off after a day in the field.

I think you term (Begger's lice) is correct, rather than my singular description. Was thinking about it last night after I turned the computer off. I never knew what the proper name was/is.
