Walking down the road on the weekend, I came across a little garter snake. The little snake was constantly tasting the air. Although I only had my 70-300mm with me, I was able to get a decent shot.

Very nice shots. I like that two-tone tongue.

Good shot! The last garter snake I saw was one my cat was playing with ;)

Thanks Rick. Required significant cropping since I was using my 70-300. I've been keeping my eye peeled for a well priced 100mm f2.8 IS macro.

Very nice sharp shots of a small subject especially considering these were cropped from images taken with a 70-300mm.

Thanks to all!
I just picked up a 100 2.8L, so I need to go find the little bugger again!
