I am a little stuck with my photography, I really cannot seem to get the "colors" I want in my pictures. I'm not sure what exactly is wrong, so I am hoping some of you can pinpoint my errors. Here are some shots I took yesterday.

Equipment - 60D & 100 2.8 USM Macro

Shiny black dogs are hard to photograph! We had one and I had a hard time keeping decent colours in the background. Especially if it was bright out. And he kinda turned blue in the sun.

Try a little fill flash on the dog.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Get him in the shade, and watch your focus on him as well.

Your white balance looks too warm on the first three. Fill flash or shade, as mentioned, would help these as well.

For this shot I put the sun to his back, and hit him with fill flash with an index card for a bounce card...

Alright. I do not have an external flash and am not able to purchase one in the near future, although I will purchase one sometime in the future. Would a reflector set suffice?

The first three, and somewhat the fourth, were all taken under a tree. Simply out of curiosity, which ones are misfocused? I was having a heck of time getting the goober in focus.

Thank you, I shot in RAW and I guess I got a little too "warm bar happy" I was going for a warmer, fall look. What is the rule of thumb for white balance?
