I wanted to show you lower Yosemite Falls.... the granite cliffs are so huge and so beautiful. I left the people in so you can get an idea how massive it is. The 1st is a little sunshine during an otherwise dreary day on Half Dome.

Two amazing captures Maureen, the idea to leave the people in the frame was very wise IMO,no way i would be able to tell its size otherwise.

Thank you very much for posting.

Nice shots Maureen. I never get tired of Yosemite shots. We are going there next week. Pray for snow in the valley. Can't wait. I will be able to use my new Santa brought 24-105L lens.

Nice shot Maureen. I never get tired of Yosemite either. But those people won't be doing the rocks come spring. I have been there many times when you can't cross the bridge for the water.

I love both of your photos! The picture of Yosemite falls is so beautiful. I was a little sad to see that you left it a little too flat and dull. Rocks are amazing things because they have sooo many colors in them. If you leave a rock picture flat, they just look gray and boring. But if you up the contrast and saturation just a little bit, those colors and tones really stand out and look great. Because if are okay with image editing, I edited the falls picture to demonstrate what I mean, hope you don't mind. I'm a Velvia50 hog so seeing a flat image really gets to me. For this image I created a levels adjustment layer and brought in the shadow and highlght sliders to match the contrast of the scene. I then made a hue/saturation adjustment layer and upped the master, red, yellow, and green saturation channels. Hope you like it and I hope my comments were helpful.

nice shots Maureen. when were you there? I'm heading up tomorrow and I'm just wondering what the conditions are like at the minute. then again I heard there was a storm headed that way, so it may be transformed by the time we get there.

sorry SRPhotographic, but the contrast on that version looks much too harsh, and all the highlights are blown. the original may need a slight contrast and saturation boost (using curves), but not much else.

I love Yosemite. I've only been there once, and then only for a day, but I'd like to go back and spend a week there shooting. Great shots!.

Maureen, as long as you ask: No, I really can't stand seeing any more Yosemite pictures. Want to know why? Well, I'll tell you anyway. Because I've NEVER BEEN THERE and you're making me jealous.

I'm the ripe old age of 48 already, have been to Hawaii three times, Vegas seven, soon to be eight, and I've NEVER BEEN to California.

Ewww.

Love those shots though.:)

Well thanks everyone.
Weather conditions are changing daily up there but I don't think the Yosemite valley has any snow...only tons of rain so it is very wet. Another storm is moving in tonight so be careful and bring your tire chains. The higher elevations have ice and snow along the roads.

SRPhotographic: the photo was shot on a very gray and dreary day so I added the blue sky and enhanced the original photo a bit and lightened it to show the granite. I'm afraid it looks just like the photo in real life and that's the way I chose to share it with people. I didn't want to make it into something it isn't. Thanks for taking the time to work on it though.

MDJAK: C'mon down. We'll take you on a Yosemite and Sequoia Nat'l Park tour.

You could trade the seven trips to Vegas for one good trip to Yosemite and come out way ahead.
