Here's a quick edit from my latest film project this past weekend, a gory, hack-and-slash horror movie.

it was about $15 to make one out of pvc and a tire valve, here's a quick video of a water test in my shop.

we had 2 of those plus a garden sprayer full of blood for one take. she was yelling in russian and stabbing a dude lying on the ground with a machete (really just stabbing the ground). Every time she would stab she would get hit with another blast of blood. kind of a one chance for a take kind of thing lol.

So pressurized air behind the main valve with fake blood in front, turn the valve releasing pressurized air??? I think that could be lots of fun

that is exactly it. i have never put more than about 35psi into either of them, but that is plenty! i would be willing to take a blast point blank if there is nothing but liquid in it, but things can get dangerous if solid objects are used. a larger version would be a good dust cannon for an explosion, and is on the list of things i plan on making in the near future.

Would be an awesome Halloween shot is she looked a little sadder or freaked out :)

For me the fact that she looks like the blood does not even phase her freaks me out more, just that normal look but covered in blood makes me wonder what this girls had to go through.

I'm thinking modified paintball pump marker. Drop in a pair of very low pressure inline regulators, then modify the breach so it stays sealed, and is linked to a large tank of colour under the barrel. Pump back, raise marker so colour flows into breech, pump forward and lower marker so main colour tank is cut off, squeeze trigger, repeat.

I will need more time to figure out a reliable and easy modification to do for a self-cocking marker. Likely need a blow forward, as all the blow back designs would be starved for pressure and likely too picky on how light of a spring you use.
