as usual the sky was total overcast but as an added bonus this time the temperature was 13 below zero

it was a strange type of day near darkness all day

i did'nt get the chance much to use the camera but i did come home with a couple of shots

the first is of blackrock cottage at the top of glen coe frequent walkers on here like cameron will know this place well

the next shot is of a really frozen River Coupall in the shadow of buachaille etive mhor (The Great Shepherd of Etive) one of scotlands most gracefull mountains and probablly the most photographed of them all you'll notice how dark this image is this is a true reprasentation of how the day was

#1 a classic scene. #2 I prefer: dark and moody! :-)

Spectacular shots John, really shows the ruggedness of the countryside. Too bad it was such a dreary day but you came through.

The first shot is fantastic, the halo around the mountain puts me off the second a little.

Certainly two keepers John - good shooting although I'll also question the halo around buachaille etive mhor but other than that great images.

I've had to come back to Blackrock Cottage for another look - the warmth in the foreground colours, certainly belies the true weather conditions. Great work

Brrrr... you won't find me up a hill like that in winter.
I'll leave that to the serious climbers.

Great shots John.
The Buachaille always looks impressive when viewed from the west.
No2 is my pick ( halos aside ). I'm guilty of the same offence now and again.
I hope you shot in RAW John. If so have another go at post processing with two shots from the same image. You know, one for highlights and one for shadows etc. I think if you can sort that out you'll have one seriously good winter image of the Buachaille and the river Coupall.

As Allways Cameron

but i honestly dont think the shots worth all the effort really
this was taken with a sigma 20mm EX and im consistently not happy with this lens its for the high jump im afraid

need to save the pennies for a nice wide lens

:D
