If there are any members here who have some small memory cards laying around collecting dust, it would be greatly appreciated if you could donate them to us.

A bit of background in case you are not familiar with Help-Portrait, check out this website. http://help-portrait.com/ (external link)
It is a great cause to get involved with, if there is a group in your area, or if you would like to start one if there isn't.

It is a worldwide event taking place on December 8th this year, where local photographers, make-up artists, stylists and many others donate their time to do portraits of less fortunate people, and give them a photo on the spot to take with them. It is an opportunity to meet lots of great people, and have a whole bunch of fun, while giving something back to the community that is greatly appreciated. it is truly wonderful to see the big smiles on these peoples faces when we hand them a portrait, as many have never had one done, or at least nothing for many, many years. Some no longer possess any they might have had.

Anyway, how our group is set up, is that we take a few shots of each individual or group, then bag the card and send it off to the folks doing the processing and printing. Sometimes we end up using up all our cards while waiting for them to come back after processing, and can't keep up with the shooting.

Any size card will work, even the 256K and 512K ones, as we only take a few shots at each sitting, and shoot in JPEG. CF and SD cards are appreciated, as there are other non-Canon shooters as well.

You can contact me for my address either through PM, or email me at bearleealiveATgmail.com.

If there are others that could make use of these cards for this reason too, please feel free to add yourselves to be contacted as well. I have no doubt there are a ton of these cards around.

Your consideration of this request would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Jim

Note to Mods. If there is a more appropriate place for this, please move. Thanks.

I have a bunch of old Kodak cards but i also have old cameras. :(

Would love to donate but these cards are more valuable for my collection then slightly newer cards my devices can't use. Also considering the cost of shipping an old card to you i'd much rather donate money towards a new one. So i've opted to instead give a small donation that should help towards purchasing some inexpensive cards.

I'd love to send some old CF card of mine. Unfortunately, I'm in Singapore and the group here is not active at all.

If you would be willing to send us a few old cards, that would be great. I can PM you my address.

Thanks, Rick, in reality if we even get a couple dozen of these small cards it would help immensely.

We do have plans to try to speed up the processing rate, though getting sponsors to supply enough photo quality printers (and ink) is tough.
