Actually, if this deer had lived he'd be in a lot of pain so that's part of the reason why I said "GOOD".
Also, it's sad because these animals don't know any better and jump from the woods into traffic. I had little time to brake. If I'd had time to brake then maybe I could have missed him.
It's just a pain now. We only have one other car and we're having to pay extra money now for a rental car. Insurance is only paying 80% up to $500. The rest I have to pay. Plus, if they total the car then I have to take time off of work to look for another car and GEE... THAT'S always fun when you're strapped for cash.
All I can say is that there aren't enough days in hunting season to keep these animals from jumping in front of cars these days. It's a good thing this thing didn't come through the windshield and impale my wife's heart or mine with it's antler... Ever think of that?
These things are dangerous to motorists and need to be controlled before they kill someone. Human life is much more important than a deer's life. Sorry all you animal lovers out there but it's the truth.
If you notice, the bulk of the damage is too the hood which means the front end of the car was tilted down enough to not cause minimal damage to the bumper (The airbags did not deploy) So the deer hit the hood mostly... So I did try to stop/slow down when I saw him but it happened too quickly.
Another part of this story is... My wife hit a deer in April with this same car. Insurance paid for a new hood, grill, head light, labor and anything that was not visible but damaged under the hood. So this car essentially took out 2 deer (Duly crowned "The Deer Slayer" if it survives this accident).
Before that, my wife hit a deer in her 2008 Nissan Maxima. Airbags went off and insurance totaled the car so this car you see here replaced the Maxima. The car she had before that also hit a deer. Clipped the rear legs but that car was drive-able but needed repairs.
So for those of you crying over this deer, have a deer total 3 or 4 of your cars and then come back here and tell us how much you love those deer.
I love deer to so long as they're grazing in my back yard and not running out into traffic causing havoc to motorists.
