I was reading CanonRumors a few minutes ago, and saw this comment:

Not included in the April update?
I’m wondering aloud if we’ll see the blinking red AF point firmware update for the EOS 5D Mark III before April?

Why April?
Maybe the recent clean HDMI out software from Magic Lantern forced their hand.

So, I was wondering... How does Canon view Magic Lantern? Why would anything ML does "force Canon's hand"?

I would have thought that Canon would view ML at a minimum with ambivalence, and maybe even provide some level of "under the table" support. After all, you have to first own the camera to use ML, so they are not taking away sales dollars, and in fact, they may be encouraging people to buy Canon by adding functionality to the camera.

IOW, isn't the existence of ML a net benefit to Canon?
