Earlier this month I had the opportunity to drive through a big chunk of the US on the way to Calgary, and we routed ourselves through Colorado and Wyoming to see the nice landscapes out there, specifically aiming for the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park.
Sunset at the Grand Tetons:
Sunrise the next day (stayed overnight in Jackson - Thai Me Up is a great American-Thai restaurant/pub with an in-house microbrewery!):
Oblig shot of Old Faithful in Yellowstone, around noon:
Prismatic Springs (Yellowstone), later that day:
Got to really exercise the 5DII with either 17-40 or 24-105, and then the T3i with 100-400 for wildlife shots (Buffalo and Elk, and one mule deer, is all we saw). Occasionally I mounted the 24-105 to the T3i, giving me a FF-equivalent range of 17-170 or so between the two bodies.
The above shots are just a sampling of a myriad of shots at the various springs, mudpots, and other geothermal sites we practically ran through in Yellowstone. Plus I got a whack of nice shots in Colorado and elsewhere.
Highly recommended that anyone that can make the trip to do so before the supervolcano explodes...(just kidding! Well, not really - you should make the trip before it explodes, but the likelihood of it exploding in the next 100 years is quite remote, I believe, so just make the trip in your lifetime...)
Note, I am not a seismologist, so don't blame me if the supervolcano blows tomorrow...
