I've been keeping an eye out for the Sigma 100-300 F4 and found a potential seller but it is the non-DG version.

Does anyone have any specific experience with this lens? I did some reading and the Sigma DG lenses apparently have some coatings specifically for use with digital cameras.

I have the DG. It is quite good. If the same lens was white and made by canon you would hear more about it.

Everything is relative.

I had the non-DG. Optically it was good, focus speed was good. However, mine became loose in the middle. That is you could 'bend' the lens at the zoom ring. It wasn't abused, just used quite a bit. Repair? not economical so it was eventually junked :(

I don't think they ever made an OS version but I know people were asking for it!

I agree, disappointed it's been discontinued but I guess they are throwing their R&D behind the 120-300 F2.8.

That's too bad, they seem to be a great value if you consider they cost less than what people are asking for the Canon 300mm F4 non-IS. Apparently it wasn't for everyone but I want one!
