extract help wanted

i want to extract this dog from the pic and paste into a plain black background.
i have done it once using the burn tool to darken all the background but it is hard because of all the dogs fur.
using the extract tool is a bit hard as well
any easy way of doing it using cs2

I have done some extracting but in my opinion there is just not enough contrast between your subject and background and too much hair to try to extract this one. When I am trying to get rid of a distracting background, I use the eyedropper tool to match a dark color in the background and then just paint over it. Does this work for you?
