Can I use manual mode with an ST-E2?

I got used to firing speedlites (Canon 580EXII and 430EXIIs) with the built-in wireless functionality on the 7D and wanted to be able to do the same with a 5D mkII. I recently purchased a Yongnuo ST-E2 thinking it would give the 5D the same features, however it only works in ETTL mode. Does the Canon ST-E2 allow manual mode? I have checked the Canon manual online and it does not say. I would appreciate if someone with a Canon version could check.

Yes, just put the flashes in the appropriate slave mode, then turn them to manual and set the desired power. The ST-E2 will fire them.

Thanks. I was hoping to be able to adjust power from the camera similar to the 7D. So I suppose putting them into manual mode from the camera is not possible?

Nope. ST-E2 is like the 550EX as a master: it only understands groups/ratios for power control.

Interesting and good to know. Fortunately I use a 580EXII as a master and have no issue utilizing/adjusting manual flash power on all 3 groups

I suppose I got a little greedy....I hoped my $65 purchase would free up a speedlite.

Actually the 550EX, as a Master, can control slaves in Manual mode and flash output (in full stops only) can be set independently for each Slave group in the 550EX which is unlike the ST-E2.
