Is it possible?

why wouldnt canon make something like that if they do make 1.4x and 2x...

its a stupid question on my mind

This gets into the old lens-based IS vs. sensor-based IS argument.

In both cases, however, the IS is coupled to the lens's or camera's computer, and there is no practical way (at this time) to do that with an add-on device.

Yes, it's completely possible and there exist a couple of different stabilizers that go between the lens and camera, but they are for much smaller sensors, add 1.25x magnification, weight 2lbs and cost about $20,000.

Try a super fast shutter speed. Who needs IS at 1/8000 of a second....
