I am waiting to pull the trigger on a new 5D Mk. II. It is currently $1799.00 locally. Any thoughts whether it will go lower in the future or around Christmas?

I just bought ne from B&H with 24-105 kit and it says the $400 off expires in 2 days. Bought mine yesteday and it came before noon today, I love this compared to my 7D. I don't miss the 7D a bit.

Rashkh wrote in post #15169387 If we're talking really long term, you'll be able to pick it up for $100 or so in a decade or two. Well... at some point it will become an antique and the price will go back up... the Canon F-1 currently sells for about $200-350 on the used market which was about its launch price in the 1970s. That was relatively a lot of money back in the 70s, though. Laurence

I'm going to wait a couple of months and see it it gets to $1499 or $1599 in Canada. That will push me over the edge! A heck of a bargain! Flickr

Canon has prolly ceased production, so it is just a matter of time until all of the 'new' 5D Mk2s run out. Maybe before Christmas? It might go up temporarily but the 5DII is on it's way out. Very true. Look at the first Canon DLSRs - now under $400 for units that originally cost $8K new. They are still very capable cameras. Equipment list - According to the wife - "how many more lenses do you need? Yet another camera?"

I sold mine locally at $1550- a little below what it went for at the time (1600-1800). I'd be happy if I can buy one used at around 1400. Win.
