The test has been performed in a day time without using a tripod. I'm using Av mode. I'm using 3 images conbination and not the single image HDR. HDR exposures has been set to +-3. I also set the image auto align option.

I've briefly play around with the build in HDR features and found out the
following:-

i) If the shutter speed is fater than 640, then the shutter speed will blink (as indicated in the viewfinder)

ii) For outdoor condition which could do 1/4000 at f2; under certain condition the merged picture still has an ghost like image( the image border has a ghostling effect like thingy). I still get the same result even if I set to the highest possible speed or smallest aperture.

It's working fine for building but not with subject i.e statues.

Hence, is there anything I missed out or I've really hits the build-in HDR limiation?

It seems that not using a tripod, even when using a fast shutter speed, may be your culprit. Yesterday, I shot a building for a client and used bracketing in order to blend the exposures. I did two different sets from the same spot. Apparently the camera moved just the slightest for the second set. I tried blending with an expsoure from the first set with photos from the second set and got ghosting. When only using the bracketing from the correct set there was no ghosting whatsoever.

I know that I was using a much slower shutter speed but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to hold it PERFECTLY still for three exposures simultaneously. I highly recommend you troubleshoot with a tripod to see if it's still ghosting.

I just think it has to do with the algorithm of how it aligns the images. I noticed this as well once when I was shooting during the day and had shutter speeds over 1/1000th. the in camera HDR mis-aligned one of the images and I got this funky outlining look. Although, even when scrolling through the 3 images, it didn't look like the camera position changed at all. But, I also later tried importing them into photomatix and used the match by features (which i usually use) and it looked better, but still wasn't perfect. Not sure why. aligning by vectors or whatever didn't seem to help either. So I ended up doing it manually in photoshop in the end. All 3 layers were pretty much already aligned. So I don't know if it is something about the lighting conditions or what which confuse the alignment algorithms.

There's one huge problem right there.

I don't think I would even bother with in-camera HDR. I don't really do any HDR anyway.

I was taught that in camera HDR is meh at best because it is limited by the cameras processing power. In a class I took we used photomatix to do HDR from at least 5 different exposures(3 being the minimal). The program gives one more control over how the final result will look.
