Dante, just saw your post. Really sorry to hear that. Hopefully it will come back to you soon in a brand-spanking-new shape and this incident will be forgotten like a bad dream.

Good luck.

I highly recommend these. They're almost as sticky as what wide receivers wear to catch footballs. Come to think of it, the 85 1.2 is almost as fat as a pigskin.

I've just been speaking to my brother and their pet rabbit bought the farm this morning and the kids are balling their eyes out. I Could here them in the background i'll try to explain to Shannon and Nathen the sorry tale of your broken 85 1.2L in the hope it will make them see that there are people worse off then them Lol

Can't beat that kind of 'Northern grit realism' pep talk to break through   A lens is just money ... an 'animal companion' is real ;)

As one who has dropped my share of things (100-400L for one), I can assure you that after you pay the hundreds of dollars to fix your lens, you will become much more sure-fingered.

There is some satisfaction to be drawn from this:
1. It didn't land on your foot.
2. It didn't damage the floor.
3. The extra profit Canon makes from repairing you lens could end up funding important R&D that will make our hobby even more enjoyable in the future.

All together, not a bad turn of events.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

I'm still laughing reading that. Too funny.

Heck, you can buy a farm of rabbits for what that lens cost.

I should have added, this lens is 2 days old and have not dropped it yet, I guess thats why the lens barrel is reduced to oval shape near the lens mount. many would not get there hands around this lens, it's huge.
And probably would not want to part with it either.

Martin

Lets not forget at this time of year when people are too quick to give children pets as presents, that a rabbit's not just for christmas, with a bit of luck they'll be some left over for new years day

Booom!!
