I am deathly afraid of all bugs but my love of photography is greater so I've gotten into a bit of macro work. So far a Huntsman spider (about 5" tip to tip) and a 2" Preying Mantis were my most cooperative subjects. I have attempted a Black Widow and Scorpion with my wife holding a can of "instant bug death" as I placed the lens only inches away...both charged me and were dispatched. I will figure it out someday! I'm hoping that as one becomes more familiar with the critters and learns which ones can be dangerous that the reaction to the non dangerous ones will be moderated enough to allow some good close-ups. The first bug I did was a preying mantis and after the "shoot" I was literally dripping wet with sweat. I was so nervous around it my heart rate must have been off the charts! I'm still building mine trying to decide what to do with it. Here's a couple of my CU... I like the greater DOF you got on these. I've got to remember to reset mine before shooting. The mantis wouldn't bother me much but that hairy spider would. Dave
