Here's a few from tonight's game. This is 2nd time shooting volleyball, so I spent a lot of time experimenting with different locations. I found that shooting from the upper level equals instant 90% keeper rate... so much easier to anticipate the action from above. Still need to work on through the net stuff. These were shot with a Nikon D700 (my buddy's) and a 300/2.8, with a few in the gallery from my D7000 and 85/1.8G. Even after using D4s and D3s's all the time, I fell in love with the D700 files.

Here's the entire gallery: http://www.utsports.com/view.gal?id=127745 (external link)

Thanks for looking. C&C appreciated as always.

Very nice stuff. I shot with a D700 for a year or so, loved the files, very receptive to processing. I only have one real critique and it's VERY nitpicky, but I would crop the first one from the left just enough to get rid of that jagged part of what I'm assuming is the Y in the word "LADY' before VOLS. Other than that, good stuff.

I'm usually a big supporter of tight crops with sports photos, but I love the use of negative space in #1, great job.

Thanks elray. You're right about the crop... just lazy on my part.

RickyH, thanks, really appreciate it. I'm usually the same way, but it seems like volleyball shots get really repetitive, so it's nice to mix things up a bit. In general, I've been trying to force myself to try wider stuff in all sports.

Excellant camera work! Looks like that orange could be a real challenge to expose correctly! Well done!

You omitted the final score. Kentucky won 3-2 (21-25, 27-29, 25-14, 25-22, 15-5) I couldn't resist the opportunity to take a shot at someone from Tennessee.

Great photos. I can be nice.

With a 2-28 record in football vs. UT for the last 30 years, I'd take any possible shot at Tennessee as well.

Thanks for the comment. It was actually a really good game to shoot, action wise. KY played extremely well in that last set.

The intensity of number four is awesome. Nice.
