well this is a canon forum, and canonites expect good reviews. Too bad, the camera had **** AF from the get go. You dont have to be a pro reviewer to realize this.

the ability to use your existing lens system is a gimmick. what good is it if it wont AF correctly anyhow? EOS-M = not this iteration, maybe EOS-M mark 2..... that's canon's style anyhow.

I judge it for myself thanks... do I expect it to be DSLR quick... ofcourse not, it's Canon we are talking about :D. Using existing lens is not a qimmick, it's actually whats making me lean towards it....rather then a NEX or Oly.

yeah I'm waiting for v2 as well :)

I agree. It's like they are trying to sell us on the idea that less is more.

Price in NZ is the same as the 650d and kit lens. I think it will drop to a nice price pretty soon.

I think that will happen because not many people will see the value in buying it.

It'll happen because thats how pricing for digital cameras works.
5D2 is now what $1600ish in USA? Theres little value in that too?

This looks like a fantastic addition to a canon shooters bag. A pocket able P&S with SLR like image quality and a lens (22mm or the kit) that has astounding sharpness. And you can mount all your other EF lenses too...

I appreciate that Canon made a tiny mirrorless body...HOWEVER...by the time you put on a lens or a lens with an adapter (and that's the point of buying the EOS-M, to use your EF lenses)...it's going to be so big/heavy that a little more heft to the body would have been negligible OVERALL.

However, that little more heft would have allowed them to have a camera that has better controls than a mid-range PowerShot....I think Canon missed the mark on this.

They executed the "tiny package" idea perfectly in the S100, but I don't think that's the case with the EOS-M.

One thing everyone's missed is Kai likened it to corduroy. Who's going to want to buy it now ?? :-) Canon may as well rename it Titanic.......... Anyone who posts on here defending it, we can be assured they have their laptop/iPad resting on their freshly ironed "Cords" as they type furiously bigging up their choice of mirrorless camera.
No matter how hard they try, no way will they raise the profile of corduroy :D
But seriously, DigRev normally do their reviews this way, Canon probably shot themselves in the foot by only allowing 1hour with the camera. Kai only echoed what most people who have tested it have said though. I think I'd rather a Nex 7 if I went that way..........
