Interior Photography Advice

I've done some interior photography of 2 places. One an office and the other a residential loft. Both are for the same client.

After doing a round of adjustments, I sent a contact sheet of photos that they could choose from. So stuff like exposure adjustment, lens adjustment, etc. There hasn't been any work done to get rid of flares or things like that. The client said that they weren't pleased with the results. They're main criticism was that the lighting was very poor and they don't convey the story of the spaces.

I've posted a few examples of the 2 interiors and I'm hoping that you could provide me with some advice as to what could be done better with them. In terms of post processing, angles I've chosen, etc. Thanks.

I cant tell ya much about the photos, but I can tell ya about the customer.
People that build, own and live in these types of places are the most discriminating, picky customers you can ask for. Everything accentuates detail, even being a minimalist is a detail.
Be glad you didn't build that for them...
Their house says WOW in every detail, they are going to expect the pictures to show the same details and go WOW at the same time.

Find a way to bring them WOW

IMO, the images are ok, but they aren't well lit (lots of darkness at the back of the shots) and they are what we call 'zoomy'.... the camera position and the lens choice has meant that the ceilings and the floors tend to 'zoom' towards the viewer. A tighter lens would help this, but I understand that you then dont get so much in the shot. Its very hard to make large rooms with low ceilings look right....

my apologies. didn't realize that they had such a ridiculous amount of ads/popups. haven't used imageshack in a while.

IMO -
The first lot look like snapshots tbh. The verticals are sketchy, white balance needs adjusting, they are dull, the composition doesn't help either. Harsh but that's what I thought

The apartment looks incredible, I'd love to shoot a place like that!
But as said I don't feel your really selling the place. And with a place like that this should be easy. Without being in the place its difficult to imagine how restricted you were when positioning the camera. But the kitchen shot is too distorted imo with too much ceiling in the shot.

Oh and number the shots too

no worries. i found the space a bit hard to photograph. as a designer, i didn't really like some of the things done with the space. so i think that might've influenced me a bit. the black ceiling doesn't help either imo.

nah. this is just something on the side. i like photography and taking photos, so i'm just expanding my horizons.

i did another space for the same designers a few months ago, so they asked me if i wanted to do those 2 as well. so i agreed. turned out a bit tougher than the first one.

Probably, the owner (client?) knows a friend of a friend of a friend of some who has a compact gear...
Nothing to add respect the focal lens used, point of view...
In the "reception area", I should have reduced (a little) the lighting over the top of the pots. Even in the photo #9, the logo in the column....
