Dead and dry

Hi everyone

Standing in the middle of nowhere , and to be more precise , at Glen Coe , right in the heart of the Scottish highlands , exactly across the road from the very well known mountain Buachaile Etive More , there is a tree.

Now you will tell me , whats so special about that ?

Well , if you are standing right next to that dead and dry and whatever is left from that tree , you will soon realise that there is NO other tree around you for miles and miles.
As far as my eyes could see , i couldn`t find another tree , dead or alive.

I found this very strange (cann`t explain why) and thought to share it with you.
If you have any more info about this,please share.

I found the view very impressive , what do you think ?

Second shot, for me, Dimitri, works very well: the tree is clearly put into context. Your standpoint would have been a good one for a stereo shot! Good stuff, Buddy!

I was thinking of trying it tomorrow if the weather is ok and the land there is quite dry,(it tends to sink a bit) , we`ll see.

Like the second shot, it points out that this is the only tree around.
It would be interesting to find out why this tree has survived.

Interesting - perhaps the weather was unusual for a couple of seasons and a bird dropped that seed in a perfect storm of coincidences that resulted in a few years of decent growth. Nothing lasts forever.

I don`t know,the conditions up there in the middle of the winter are very very harsh.
